Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, along with Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, is home to more than half of the world’s mountain gorilla population. As Uganda’s smallest national park, it is distinguished by the shy golden monkeys that roam the bamboo forest canopies, coexisting harmoniously with the silverbacks. This unique relationship has led to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park being recognized as the destination where "Gold meets Silver."

Keen travelers may occasionally encounter elephants, buffalos, leopards, and giant forest hogs, which, along with the diverse birdlife, contribute to this phenomenal tourism destination in Uganda. It is also important to note that Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is situated on the Gahinga Volcano, the third of the Virunga Volcanoes, alongside Muhavura and Sabinyo, making volcano climbing expeditions very accessible.

The park is also home to the indigenous Batwa pygmies, who were the first inhabitants of the forest. Traditionally, they are hunters, fruit gatherers, and warriors who rely on the forest for food and medicine. Our guests are guided to the lower slopes of the forest, where they are introduced to traditional homesteads and shown the survival skills that have sustained the Batwa for generations—this sums up a perfect trip to the home of the mountain gorillas.

Key activities and experiences include gorilla tracking, golden monkey tracking, Batwa pygmy cultural encounters, birdwatching, and volcano climbing. Guests can customize their itinerary for a minimum of three days, tailoring the number of days and choosing accommodation options based on their budget.
