5 day – Kidepo Valley National Park
Day 1: Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
At 7:00 AM, you will transfer north to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, home to over 32 Southern White Rhinos. Upon arrival, a local ranger guide will lead you on foot for an up-close encounter with the rhinos. This leisurely walk will take approximately 1.5 hours through the open plains and dappled woodlands as the sun begins to set.
Overnight: Amuka Lodge
Meal Plan: Full Board
Day 2: Kidepo Valley National Park
Today, we begin our journey to the far north of Uganda, venturing into Africa’s most remote wilderness areas. We hope you and your children are well-rested, as this journey will be an adventure! We will stop for lunch at a selected restaurant along the way.
Overnight: Kidepo Savannah Lodge or Apoka Safari Lodge
Meal Plan: Full Board
Day 3: Full Day Guided Game Drive & Picnic Lunch
Game drives and walks into the wilderness are directed by nature, not time! Enjoy a game drive, and if you wish, you can add an optional walking safari for an additional fee along a sandy, dry riverbed fringed with palm trees. If you’re feeling adventurous, climb to the top of a rocky outcrop to take in the stunning views!
We will move slowly along isolated tracks to fully appreciate the surroundings, looking for tracks and signs of wildlife. You can stop at any point to investigate further. A walk to track lions or cheetahs is possible, with encounters with zebras, waterbucks, Jackson’s hartebeests, warthogs, patas monkeys, and large herds of buffalo along the way.
Overnight: Kidepo Savannah Lodge or Apoka Safari Lodge
Meal Plan: Full Board
Day 4: Karamojong Cultural Experience
Today, we will take you to Lokorul village, located on the outskirts of Kidepo Valley National Park in the Kaabong district of Northern Uganda, within the Karamoja region. This local village of the Karamojong people offers cultural tours. The Karamojong are a proud tribe that has resisted many influences for change.
Their love for cattle is comparable to that of the better-known Maasai of Kenya and Tanzania. They have unique traditions and are proud, warrior-like people who believe it is their God-given right to own cattle, even those belonging to others.
